Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office may be installed free of charge on any University-owned Mac or PC. Currently, Office 2019 for Mac and PC is the preferred version of this software package. Other versions of Microsoft Office may be installed for special, documented, reasons. The version of Office installed by UNR OIT contains the following software titles:

  • Access - database
  • Excel - spreadsheet
  • Teams - communication and organization
  • OneNote - note organization
  • Outlook - emails
  • PowerPoint - presentations
  • Publisher - brochures
  • Word - word processing

Please note, Microsoft does not include Office for the iPad in their higher education licensing at this time. This product has to be bought from the Apple App Store.


Options

Online

Employees - Active employees can login to Office 365 using their university email login.

Students - Active Students of the University with an @nevada.unr.edu Gmail account are eligible to register for a free Office 365 for Education subscription.  Once registered they can login to Office 365 to use select Office products online.

University Owned Computers

Personal Computers

Employees/Faculty - Microsoft Office for a personal computer may be obtained by any employee free of charge, for up to 5 devices as part of the Home Use Program.

StudentsActive Students of the University with an @nevada.unr.edu Gmail account are eligible to register for a free Office 365 for Education subscription. Office 365 for Education allows students to install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, Publisher, and Access on a personal computer.


Cost

There is no charge for use of this service with the exception of Microsoft Office for the iPad as it is not included in Microsoft's higher education licensing at this time. Microsoft Office for the iPad must be bought from the Apple App Store.
